QC photos are your only window into the product before it crosses an ocean. Knowing what to look for protects your wallet.
Lighting and Angle Tricks
Warehouses use flat overhead lighting. It hides depth and texture issues. Always request a natural light photo or an angle shot if you suspect material quality problems. Shadows reveal the truth.
Stitching Density
Count stitches per inch. High-end retail uses dense, even stitching. Budget reps often skip this. Sparse or uneven stitching is an immediate rejection reason.
Print Alignment
For graphic tees and hoodies, check print placement against retail reference photos. Crooked, off-center, or stretched prints never get better in person.
Color Accuracy
Screens lie. Warehouse lighting distorts colors further. Compare the QC photo against multiple retail photos under different lighting. If the shade is noticeably off, it will be worse in daylight.
Hardware and Tags
Zippers, buttons, and interior tags are easy QC wins. Authentic hardware has weight and smooth action. Cheap hardware feels hollow and sticks. Interior tags should match font, spacing, and material of retail.
Know Your Tolerance
Decide what flaws you can live with before you order. Minor interior tag differences might not matter to you. Major shape distortion or color errors should be instant rejections. Set your standard and hold to it.
